This page highlights continued engagement with the aerospace community following the completion of the Accelerate Space Program. It will feature Spotlight Series along with conversations and discussions with aerospace leaders, offering insights into human spaceflight, leadership, and the future of exploration.
Through these highlights and conversations, this section shares perspectives from professionals who have contributed to space exploration and aerospace innovation. Their experiences provide valuable lessons on teamwork, preparation, and the evolving opportunities within the aerospace industry.
This section highlights NASA astronauts whose experiences and leadership continue to inspire the next generation of aerospace professionals. Through conversations and events, these interactions provide insight into human spaceflight, scientific research, and the future of exploration.
Mission Control represents the heart of human spaceflight operations, where teamwork, communication, technology, and decision-making come together to support every phase of a mission. From launch to orbit, docking, lunar operations, and safe return, flight controllers and mission teams monitor complex systems, solve problems in real time, and coordinate across many specialized roles. It shows how successful space exploration depends not only on astronauts, but also on the dedicated professionals on the ground who guide missions with precision, discipline, and trust
Team Mercury recognizes the Artemis III crew—Commander Randy Bresnik, Pilot Luca Parmitano, and Mission Specialists Andre Douglas and Frank Rubio—as they prepare for a historic 2027 mission aboard NASA’s Orion spacecraft. Through teamwork, international cooperation, and technical excellence, the crew will test critical rendezvous and docking operations in low Earth orbit, helping demonstrate the systems needed to safely return astronauts to the lunar surface during future Artemis missions.
In celebration of the 57th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, Team Mercury honors Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins—the crew whose courage, preparation, and teamwork made humanity’s first journey to the lunar surface possible. Their historic mission continues to inspire future generations to pursue bold goals, advance exploration, and contribute to the future of aerospace.
While the team is finished with the program, our mission does not end. We are planning to host an event that teaches others how to build their own high-powered personal model rocket and get Level 1 certified, taking a step closer to their dreams of working on a real one.
Tentative Plan:
1) Certify all current team members for their L1 certificate
2) Hold a total of three sessions on high-powered rocketry 101 basics
3) Begin certification process for a maximum of 10 and expand after the first round of certifications
